Hospice impact overview

Prescribe with confidence, deliver with speed

Hospice medication ordering with an e-prescribing system designed for hospice workflows. By unifying new, change, and discontinue orders in a single electronic flow, organizations reduce first-fill delays while easing administrative burden.

Key Outcomes

  • Executives gain standardized processes and visibility across sites.
  • Clinical leaders and staff benefit from our clinical teams formulary guidance, safety checks, and configurable templates.
  • Finance teams reduce spend and denials with cleaner data and real-time coverage verification.

Strategic Impact

By moving medication ordering out of phone and fax, routing prescriptions directly to the right pharmacies, and supporting mobile access for prescribers, Wise cuts down on back-and-forth and shortens the time between a decision and a working order. Teams handle fewer status calls, orders complete more reliably on the first pass, and patients and families see fewer avoidable delays.

For hospice executive leaders

Consistency, speed, and improved family experience

E-prescribing gives leadership confidence that all sites follow one standard process—delivering faster fills and reducing risk from manual variability.

Key Outcomes

  • Coverage-aware ordering and electronic transmission reduce first-fill delays
  • A unified workflow standardizes ordering across clinicians and sites
  • Faster order turnaround improves family satisfaction

Executive Strategic Impact

Replacing phone and fax with electronic ordering removes a layer of inefficiency and gives leaders a clearer view of how medication work moves through the organization. As more orders flow through Wise, teams see fewer medication-related calls for basic status questions and faster processing overall, which supports both patient comfort and operational predictability.

For hospice clinical leaders

Safety checks and a consistent process for every order

Clinicians can place, change, or discontinue orders in one electronic flow instead of juggling calls and faxes. EPCS-compliant workflows and drug interaction warnings help catch common issues early, while templates for frequent scenarios keep ordering consistent across clinicians and sites.

Key Outcomes

  • New, change, and discontinue orders unified in a single process
  • Drug interaction warnings at order entry help prevent common errors
  • Configurable comfort-pack or medication favorite templates streamline common scenarios

Clinical Strategic Impact

Moving orders into a single electronic workflow and adding interaction warnings reduces common prescribing errors and back-and-forth with the pharmacy. What used to take a series of calls can often be handled in one pass, so clinicians can move decisions forward at the bedside.

For hospice financial leaders

Reduced denials, cleaner billing, faster revenue

Finance teams gain efficiency and predictability with accurate, real-time data flowing from order to billing.

Key Outcomes

  • Lower administrative time per order with cleaner data at capture.
  • Plan-aligned ordering reduces avoidable denials: Patients loaded from the EMR are tied to the correct coverage plan and formulary, so orders start with the right rules and fewer billing surprises emerge later.
  • Traceable data behind every report: Order, PA, and refill activity is captured in Wise, then surfaced in reporting, so finance can drill from a metric down to the underlying transactions when questions come up.

Financial Strategic Impact

Electronic prescribing reduces manual touch points and errors at the start of the process. Cleaner orders mean fewer billing corrections and a smoother path from submission to payment, which supports more predictable cash flow and clearer pharmacy spend visibility.

FAQ

Common Questions

Complex workflows shouldn’t require guesswork. We’re committed to explaining how our solutions work—and why they matter—in terms that help leaders make decisions with confidence. When you need clarity, we’re here, no friction and no fluff.

Comprehensive analytics include prescribing patterns, formulary compliance, and cost analysis. Reports can be scheduled or generated on-demand.

Orders can be placed at any time, including nights and weekends. Wise submits prescriptions electronically to your configured pharmacy partners, so work can keep moving even when office staff aren’t on the phone or at a fax machine.

Licensed prescribers can issue orders from the mobile app. Authorized staff can start orders in the field and route them to the prescriber, who reviews and signs (or approves via token for scheduled meds) before anything is sent to the pharmacy. Orders then sync across devices so everyone sees the same status.

When a medication rejects with a prior auth requirement, Wise automatically notifies the users who handle PAs. They can pick up the work from that alert, and nurses can re-ping PA users on a specific medication if it’s been delayed, so PA tasks are less likely to get lost in inboxes.

Once a prescriber signs an order, Wise submits it electronically to the selected pharmacy. Transmission is typically very fast, but the exact time to receipt and processing depends on the pharmacy’s systems and workload. You can include a STAT note on the order so the pharmacy sees the urgency when they review it.

Yes. Our system is DEA-certified for Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) with two-factor authentication and identity proofing that meets federal requirements.
